The Femore Fortress was built into the rock below Oxelosund in 1964. Once a top secret nuclear safe bunker that could defend this part of Sweden against invasion from the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pack. A top secret tour that takes a fascinating look at Sweden during the Cold War.
Your guided tour takes you an enthralling look at the Femore Coastal Military Nuclear bunker in Oxelosund. Built in 1964, in operation until 1998 and abandoned in 2003. The visit includes a look at the Bofors guns above and below ground and you will see how the shells were move up to the turrets. Explore some of the 450 meters of underground tunnels that housed the Command Post, kitchens, repair shops, sleeping and living quarters of the 70 soldiers who manned the facility.
After the tour visit the charming Oxelosund old town down by the harbour, where you can have some free time to explore and have lunch at a local cafe for some homemade food while enjoying the views over the harbour and archipelago.
